Focus Programs at Bayridge
Focus Programs are packages of courses offered at Bayridge Secondary School that concentrate on a particular field of interest or training to provide students with both academic and work experience that will give them a foundation in a career or area of study.
Focus Programs permit students to come together to benefit from specialized equipment and training. These programs are designed to help secondary school students make well-informed career decisions and to assist with a smooth transition to post-secondary education or the world of work.
Focus Programs are organized into four categories:
Broadbased Technology - programs are built around careers and co-operative education experiences in technology: transportation, manufacturing, communications, hospitality, hairstyling and aesthetics .
Career/Unique - programs focus intensively on areas of special interest with integrated credit packages.
OYAP (Ontarion Youth Apprenticeship Program) - programs allow students to investigate careers in the trades.
Referral - programs designed to meet the needs of at-risk students. Students are referred by Student Services.
