Post Secondary Update #3

Important Information for our Potential Graduates
Posted on 10/31/2018
All students wishing to apply to college and/or university should do so before Friday, December 21st, 2019 to ensure that your application is submitted by the deadline without complications. The applications are OPEN NOW and available online at the following websites:
University applications:
College applications:
Personal Information Numbers (PINs) have been distributed. If you plan to apply to university (through OUAC) and have lost your PIN, see Ms. Moore asap.

• It is critical that you begin the application process as soon as possible. Book an appointment with Ms. Moore to discuss your post-secondary options.
• When applying please use an email address that you check regularly, as colleges/universities use email as their main communication tool.
• Remember that your application will not be processed until you have paid the application fee - this means the colleges and/or universities will not see your application until you pay!

Any students looking for support with navigating or completing their application should attend sessions on the following dates at lunch:
College Applicants: Tuesday, November 20th and Wednesday, November 28th
University Applicants: Wednesday, November 21st and Tuesday, November 27th
**Students should be sure to have created their account through OUAC or Ontario Colleges and be able to log in before attending these sessions. If having difficulty, see Ms. Moore before these sessions.

The last day to drop a class without it showing on your high school transcript is Friday, November 23th, 2018. Once you have completed your application, check the transcript selection of your application to ensure that your courses and marks are listed. If you have any questions or concerns, please see Ms. Moore immediately so that any problems can be resolved. Information changes from post-secondary institution to post-secondary institution so it is extremely important that students are familiar with the prerequisite course requirements for their program(s) of choice. Students should also be familiar with the university/college policy regarding repeated courses.

The Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC) will transmit academic data to some out of province universities. Students authorize this collection by providing their OUAC reference number on their out of province application. McGill, Concordia, Bishop’s, Dalhousie, Saint Mary’s, UBC, Simon Fraser, the University of Calgary, the University of New Brunswick and the University of Victoria are currently using this system. If you are applying to an out of province university that does not use OUAC or an out of province college, please see Ms. Moore as you will need to send a transcript to that university/college. Transcript requests must be made with 48 hours notice to allow for processing time.

NOTE: You must apply separately to universities/colleges outside of Ontario. There is a separate cost for each application (these costs vary from school to school). Information about the application process for college and university is available in Student Services. Book an appointment with a counselor if you have any questions.

Graduation portraits will take place in February 2019. Please keep this month in mind and watch for coming information.
