Graduates - Important Information for the Class of 2020
Posted on 06/18/2020

UPDATE JUNE 7: Pick up Graduation materials: Appointments will run every 15 minutes, between 9 AM and 7 PM, June 22nd to 25th.   Three appointments per 15-minute block are available.

This will be an opportunity for graduates and one to four members of their household to take photos in a grad gown in front of the school, touch the paw (sanitized!), pick up their transcript and any certificates and awards, and pick up their grad gown, if one was ordered to keep through School-Day. All protocols for physical distancing and sanitizing will be followed at all times.

Members of the administration will meet the student and members from their household at the front doors of the school at the time of their appointment and provide direction.  If the student has not yet emptied their locker, returned school materials etc. the student will be escorted by a staff member to their locker, maintaining a physical distance of two meters.  Graduates can also sign up in School-Day for a 15 minute appointment the week of June 15th to 19th to clean out their lockers and return materials.  Graduation materials will not be available until the week of June 22nd.

PLEASE NOTE COVID SCREENING: Students or parents/guardians will not be allowed to come to the school for their appointment  if they or anyone they live with is experiencing COVID19 symptoms, or if they or anyone they live with has travelled outside of the country in the past 14 days.  All persons coming to the school will be required to confirm by signing, that they have completed the self-screening for COVI19

GRADUATES  As information becomes available, we will post to this story.  Please check back regularly.  Parents will be alerted to new postings through the home broadcast system.

UPDATE: May 28:
Graduation is an important milestone in a student’s academic journey and deserves to be celebrated. We are working on a plan that will allow us to celebrate this milestone and ensure we continue to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
Traditional Commencement ceremonies, whether held inside, or outdoors are not permitted at this time due to the provincial Declaration of Emergency and public health directives.  We have just received guidelines developed by our senior staff in consultation with KFL&A Public Health. The BSS Grad committee will continue to plan for a celebration of our graduates, while working within these guidelines.  Our plan will be communicated to all our families shortly.

At this point, I can share that we will be producing a virtual graduation celebration that will be broadcast to all graduates and their families on June 25th at 4 PM. Prior to that, we will arrange an opportunity for our graduates and one or two family members to come to the school at a scheduled time, to retrieve personal items, return textbooks, take photos in a grad gown, and pick up certificates and awards.

UPDATE May 25:  If you would like a new grad gown with cap, a 2020 tassel  and a Blazer stole, you can order one through School-Day. Cost is  $15.
